SCAI committees and councils

Members of the School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence committees and councils serve the school and university in an advisory, process-making, or hearing role for the continued innovation and progression of the institution.

SCAI Committees

Administration & Planning Committee (APC)

The APC will solicit input from the SCAI Academic Assembly and advise the SCAI Director regarding salary matters, budgets, space and other resource allocation, staff, strategic planning and other critical issues raised by the Director, and communicate faculty concerns to the Director. The elected members of the APC will serve as a subcommittee with responsibility for hearing faculty grievances, performance evaluation appeals and coordinating evaluations of School administration. The subcommittee shall solicit input from the Program Faculty on the performance of the Program Chairs each year and provide the results to the Director.

Graduate Admissions Committee (GAC)

The GAC is primarily responsible for admission/rejection recommendations for PhD applicants. The GAC will review applications and, for each applicant with a complete application file, they will recommend to the CGF Chair either: admission without an explicit recommendation of funding; admission with an explicit recommendation of funding; or denial. The GAC shall consist of at least 10 CGF members appointed by the SCAI Director with the advice of the CGF Chair. Appointments shall be for one year.

CS Graduate Programs Committee (GPC)

The GPC will solicit information from the CGF and advise the CGF Chair on matters of membership of the CGF, admissions standards, deficiency management, curriculum content and procedures, and graduation requirements of the graduate degree programs. In particular, the GPC is responsible for the maintenance of the Student Handbooks for all CS graduate degree programs. GPC may submit agenda items to the CGF Chair for the CGF meetings.

The UPC will solicit information from the Faculty Assembly and advise the Program Chair on admissions standards, curriculum content and procedures and graduation requirements.

SER Graduate Program Committee (GPC)

The SER Program faculty will establish a Graduate Program Committee (GPC) for the Master of Science in Software Engineering. The GPC will solicit information from the Faculty Assembly and advise the Program Chair on admissions standards, curriculum content and procedures and graduation requirements. The GPC is responsible for working with the SCAI Graduate Advising Center to revise the Graduate Handbook, which must be accepted by the SER Program Faculty. The GPC is also responsible for considering suitability for Master’s thesis members who are not Graduate Program Faculty according to the most recent version of the Graduate Handbook.

SER Undergraduate Assessment Committee (SER UAC)

The SER Program faculty will establish a committee responsible for conducting assessment activities necessary to maintain ABET program accreditation of the Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering. These procedures are defined in the Continuous Improvement Process manual (CIP) of the program. The UAC will also recommend improvements to the CIP manual for approval by the SER Program Faculty.
